History of the Label
PX Précinox S.A. is an entity dedicated to the manufacturing and marketing of semi-finished metal products, as well as the refining of precious metals.
Dynacor Gold Mines Inc. is a Canadian gold production company based in Montreal. Its main activity consists of processing ore purchased from artisanal miners in Peru, with a strong commitment to responsible and sustainable mining practices.
In 2017, PX Précinox S.A. and Dynacor Gold Mines Inc. decided to join forces to create a project called PX Impact®. This initiative aims to contribute to the economic, social and environmental development of artisanal mining communities in Peru, with the ambition of soon expanding to other continents.
The PX Impact® label seeks to generate a tangible and positive impact within these communities by contributing to their sustainable development through projects implemented by development-focused non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The resources of the PX Impact® fund come from PX Précinox’s end customers, who pay an additional amount for gold derived from ore supplied by artisanal miners (ASGM, in English, for Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining). The amount of this commitment varies depending on the annual quantities purchased. It is fully transferred to the PX Impact® fund and reinvested locally in artisanal mining communities, thereby creating a “virtuous circle.”
The enthusiasm surrounding the PX Impact® label and the prospects for development and support beyond Peru led the initiators of this label to establish, in 2024, the GEIF Foundation (Global Ecosystem Impact Foundation) to autonomously manage the PX Impact® fund.
Historically, all support has been directed to FIDAMAR, a non-governmental organization that aims to contribute to the well-being and development of artisanal mining communities in Peru. While FIDAMAR will remain at the heart of the commitment provided by the PX Impact® program, other beneficiaries of GEIF’s support may emerge in the coming years as the sourcing of metals evolves worldwide. This evolution is not only geographic but also concerns the types of mines, which may be natural or urban (such as electronic waste recycling).
Finally, through its values and implementation, the PX Impact® label is intended to extend from gold to other metals.
